New Orleans, LA. Feb. 2026
My film camera and I play this fun game where it thinks that it's 1995 and I think that it's got color film in it.
There are some things that you must always shake, hold to your ear, listen for rattling and then open up to see if you have gotten lucky. These things include: wallets, piggy banks, clam shells, and plastic film canisters.
I found and shook and got lucky w a film canister at some point last year. The canister’s handwritten label said TriXBW. In film school we shot negative film and reversal film. I remembered the name TriX. It was nostalgic and TBH made me think of Ektachrome, my favorite film stock that is not at all BW but rather rainbow crazy saturated every color somehow feels a littler red… anyway… I believe TriX is reversal film which means… you are shooting directly onto the negative? Does it mean the negatives are tiny positives? I forget what it means and I also forgot that I had put a roll of it in my Point n Shoot before Leona and I went to New Orleans in early February.
Here are many photos of Leona holding colorful roses in front of colorful walls, wearing colorful Mardi Gras beads etc. Colorful New Orleans presented here in BW.
Some inanimate objects staying super still to let me find the best angle.
found it ^
If you know you know and then you can never un-know that ‘multi city’ plane tickets often cost the same as ‘round trip’ tickets. I always fly onward to New York after I go anywhere east of Portland. Was still wearing my Louisiana sunburn when I took these photos of Jess and Hani sledding in the Catskill Mountains.
I am still so far from the caliber of Point & Shooter that I strive to be. Perhaps I will keep posting my rolls here to see if I improve, I mean… perhaps I will keep posting them to see if I gain competence, I mean… just to see… what I snap. Just to see it! Who’s got anywhere to be anyway? Who needs ‘improvment’ when there is instead ‘wandering.’
